A young boy named Eric, was despised by his fellow school mates. Was always alone and called spastic. He then met another boy named Phillip. They became good friends.Basically, it's a fictional story about Jack (Andrew Garfield), a young man who has spent most of his life in institutions paying for a terrible crime he committed as a minor. Jack is Eric's new name as he was given a chance to return back into a society he never knew at the age of 24. He was given a new job and an opportunity to live his life again, proper. Only his case worker, Terry (Peter Mullan), knows his true identity.
They both have to hide the truth from everyone as society could never accept Jack back into the society because of the terrible crime he had committed when he was a minor.
When Jack was living his new life, he met Chris, his new friend at work. Together, they help saved a small girl who met with a car accident. This gave Jack a real boost to his confidence and that the old Eric is dead. He also met Michelle at work and it was his first time falling in love and being loved back. But it is tough to hide the truth even from his true love. It was a real dilemma.
When the truth was leaked out. He was shunned by his girlfriend, his good friend, his employer. No matter how good he is when he was living his life as Jack, no one could forgive or even willing to give him a second chance.
Alot of talking, in heavy british accent. I gotta listen to it carefully, otherwise, I'll miss lotsa humour. Lotsa vulgarities & few sexual scenes.
An interesting topic to touch on. Andrew Garfield did great justice in his potrayal of Jack. Overall, I kinda like it. Hate the ending though, made me teary.
